The Classic House Organ Bass

This is that iconic organ-style bass from 90s house tracks, famously from the Korg M1. It's not a real organ, but a simple chord.

Simple Method (2-Oscillator) (2:16)

  1. Start with a Sine wave.
  2. Add a Second Oscillator, also a Sine wave (using the sub-oscillator in this case).
  3. Set the Second Oscillator's pitch +7 semitones (a perfect 5th).
  4. Mix the two oscillators 50/50. That's the basic sound.

Advanced Method (M1-Style Chord) (3:04)

  1. Start with a single Sine wave.
  2. Instead of using multiple oscillators, use your synth's Multi-Note or Chord mode.
  3. Set the notes to create a chord based on 5ths and octaves (no 3rd):
    • Root (0)
    • +7 semitones (a perfect 5th up)
    • +19 semitones (an octave + a 5th up)
  4. (Optional) Add a -12 semitones (an octave lower) note for extra bass.
  5. This creates that classic full chord sound with a single key press.
