The Epic Melodic Techno Lead (Bodzin Style)

This is that big, soaring, detuned lead sound popular in melodic techno.

Bodzin 5th Lead

  1. Start with a Saw wave. (10:53)
  2. Just like the House Organ, use a Chord or Multi-Note mode to stack oscillators into a chord.
  3. Use these notes:
    • Root (0)
    • +7 semitones (a perfect 5th)
    • +12 semitones (an octave up)
    • +19 semitones (an octave + a 5th up) (11:19)
  4. Add a Moog-style Low Pass filter and set the cutoff to taste. (11:49)
  5. (Optional but recommended) Add an LFO with a Random (S&H) shape and assign it to slightly modulate the pitch of all the oscillators. This gives it that modern, unstable, detuned feel. (13:05)
  6. Add a big Reverb to make it wide and fat. (12:17)
