Add / Subtract Modules

Add and Subtract are two of the smallest modules in the Grid, but they appear everywhere because modular patching often means combining or comparing signals.
Add
Add sums two incoming signals. With control values, that can mean adding an offset or combining two modulation sources. With audio signals, adding is ordinary signal mixing. The result can exceed the usual signal range, so the following module determines whether that becomes useful headroom, clipping, or another transformation.
Subtract
Subtract removes the second input from the first. It is useful for differences, offsets, inverted modulation, cancellation tests, and bipolar signal relationships. Input order matters: A - B is not the same as B - A.
Why they matter in a patch
These modules do not know whether a cable carries audio, pitch, phase, or a control value. They only perform the arithmetic. The musical meaning comes from the signals around them.
