Comment

Comment module panel in Bitwig Grid
Comment in Bitwig Grid 6.0.6.

A compact text note with an optional colored title for documenting a patch in place.

What it does

Comment stores explanatory text entered in the Inspector and displays it directly on the Grid canvas. An optional module name appears as a colored title above the smaller body text.

Controls and ports

Control Label Official description
comment Comment Display [text] Display for comment entered in the Inspector Panel
title Title Display [text] Module name, if the user has defined it (in the Inspector Panel), shown in the module's color
entry Comment Entry Area [text] Entry area for comment(s) to be shown

Practical uses

  • Explain unusual routing, expected ranges, pre-cord requirements, or live-test results beside the relevant modules.
  • Leave maintenance notes and usage instructions inside presets shared with other users.

Things to know

  • Comment has no signal behavior and cannot alter the patch.
  • Its title is the user-defined module name; its body is the separate Comment entry.
  • Concise comments remain legible at normal Grid zoom and are more useful than transcribing every cable.

Technical details

No Nitro implementation has been confirmed for this visible module. The behavior is described conservatively from module metadata and editorial research.

Comment is a persisted UI annotation containing title, color, and body text. It does not enter the DSP graph, so no Nitro body is expected.

Open questions

  • Check maximum length, multiline wrapping, Unicode/Markdown treatment, zoom behavior, preset retention, search, and accessibility.
