Label
Bitwig Platform
A large, color-coded text heading for organizing and explaining Grid patches.
What it does
Label displays the module name entered in the Inspector as prominent text in the module's assigned color. It has no signal ports and exists entirely to make a patch easier to scan.
Controls and ports
| Control | Label | Official description |

label |
Label Display [text] | Module name (set in the Inspector Panel), shown in the module's color |
Practical uses
- Mark major sections such as CLOCK, PITCH, VOICE, MIX, or OUTPUT.
- Use consistent colors and names so repeated subsystems remain recognizable in large patches.
Things to know
- The displayed text comes from the module name in the Inspector.
- Changing the module color changes the heading color but has no DSP effect.
- Labels remain part of the preset layout and should be treated as documentation, not signal state.
Technical details
No Nitro implementation has been confirmed for this visible module. The behavior is described conservatively from module metadata and editorial research.
Label performs no audio, event, phase, or control processing. It stores and renders host UI metadata only, so a Nitro DSP implementation is neither recovered nor expected.
Open questions
- Check maximum text length, line handling, Unicode, scaling, copy/paste, preset retention, and accessibility at different zoom levels.
Version and sources
Checked against Bitwig Studio 6.0.6. This page combines Bitwig's module metadata, the existing Grid course and guides, and Nitro analysis where the mapping is strong enough to support a technical statement.
