Bitwig Platform
Runs an incoming phase signal proportionally faster or slower using a continuous factor and ratio.
What it does
Ø Scaler derives a new phase progression from an incoming phase signal. Rate and Ratio multiply its playback speed, allowing downstream phase-driven modules to run at related rhythmic or oscillator rates. Its reset input restarts the scaling process, not the source phase itself.

Practical uses
- Run a Gates, Steps, or lookup module at a multiple or fraction of a master phase.
- Create related polymetric phase streams from one transport-synchronized source.
- Use the cycle gate output to trigger events in sync with the scaled phase.
Things to know
- A Rate of 1 and Ratio of 1:1 are the neutral settings.
- Rate and Ratio compound: 2 with 3:2 produces three times the source rate.
- Changing the scale can leave the derived cycle at a different phase offset when returning to 1:1.
- Resetting Ø Scaler is not the same as resetting the actual phase with Ø Reset.
Technical details
No Nitro implementation has been confirmed for this visible module. The behavior is described conservatively from module metadata and editorial research.
The source guide demonstrates a stateful rate-conversion process rather than a simple static multiplication of phase values: the derived ramp can retain a changed offset after its rate is moved and returned to 1. Rate supplies a continuous multiplier and Ratio a numerator/denominator multiplier. The module also derives a logic cycle signal that is high over the first half of the scaled ramp. No dedicated Nitro body is currently mapped.
Open questions
- Measure exact reset ordering, response to audio-rate Rate modulation, zero and negative factors, gate-output threshold and polarity, and behavior at source discontinuities.
