CV In

CV In module panel in Bitwig Grid
CV In in Bitwig Grid 6.0.6.

External control voltage input with a configurable four-pole low-pass smoother.

What it does

CV In reads a selected hardware CV path and makes the calibrated voltage available as a Grid signal. Its smoothing cutoff applies a four-pole low-pass filter to suppress noise or rapid voltage changes.

Controls and ports

Control Label Official description
out Out Control voltage (CV) signals from a selected external path
path Control Voltage Path Incoming CV path to use
smooth_filt Smooth Filt Cutoff frequency for a 4-pole low-pass filter applied to the incoming signal

Practical uses

  • Bring an Eurorack envelope, LFO, or sequencer voltage into a Grid patch.
  • Lower the smoothing cutoff when hardware noise causes unstable modulation.

Things to know

  • Reliable DC and slow CV requires a DC-coupled interface input.
  • Four-pole smoothing changes timing as well as noise, adding lag and phase shift.
  • Voltage-to-Grid scaling belongs to Bitwig's configured CV path and hardware calibration.

Technical details

No Nitro implementation has been confirmed for this visible module. The behavior is described conservatively from module metadata and editorial research.

The visible chain is out = lowpass4(calibrated_hardware_cv, cutoff). The exact filter topology, calibration equation, clipping, and update boundary have not been recovered as a Nitro body.

Open questions

  • Measure voltage scaling, polarity/range, filter response and resonance, latency, DC accuracy, clipping, missing hardware, and sample-rate dependence.
