HW Out
Bitwig Platform
A direct terminal from the Grid to a selected physical audio output buss.
What it does
HW Out sends its input to chosen audio-interface outputs independently of the Grid device's normal Audio Out buss. It supports external processing, cue feeds, additional speakers, and hardware measurement paths.

Practical uses
- Send a Grid signal to an outboard effect and return it through HW In.
- Create a dedicated hardware cue, measurement, or multichannel output from one patch.
Things to know
- This can produce full-scale signals outside the normal track path; add explicit gain and limiting where appropriate.
- Feedback is possible when the selected output returns to an active input.
- Driver latency and output calibration are external to the module.
Technical details
No Nitro implementation has been confirmed for this visible module. The behavior is described conservatively from module metadata and editorial research.
HW Out is a host terminal: the incoming stereo Grid stream is submitted to the selected hardware buss. No dedicated Nitro DSP body is expected; gain, mapping, buffering, and safety depend on the audio driver and project configuration.
Open questions
- Verify channel mapping, latency, mono/stereo adaptation, simultaneous Audio Out routing, bypass, and feedback handling.
Version and sources
Checked against Bitwig Studio 6.0.6. This page combines Bitwig's module metadata, the existing Grid course and guides, and Nitro analysis where the mapping is strong enough to support a technical statement.
