Modulator Out
Bitwig Platform
A bridge from an internal Grid signal to Bitwig's wireless modulation system.
What it does
Modulator Out publishes its input as a modulation source that can be mapped to parameters outside the cable graph, including parameters on nested or neighboring devices allowed by Bitwig's modulation system.

Practical uses
- Expose a custom Grid envelope, LFO, sequencer, or analyzer value to device parameters without a cable.
- Build one Grid-based control system and map its result across several nested devices.
Things to know
- The published modulation stream runs at the application's sample rate rather than the Grid's internal four-times rate.
- Stereo input is averaged to mono before publication.
- Modulation applies an offset through Bitwig's mapping system; it is not audio routing and does not replace the target's base value.
Technical details
No Nitro implementation has been confirmed for this visible module. The behavior is described conservatively from module metadata and editorial research.
Installed metadata defines the boundary conversion as stereo flattening followed by application-rate modulation publication: conceptually m[n] = downsample((L+R)/2) from Grid 4x processing to host sample rate. Exact downsampling, polyphonic flattening, smoothing, and mapping scope are host behavior with no recovered Nitro body.
Open questions
- Measure downsampling phase/filtering, polyphonic voice reduction, range, latency, mapping scope, nested devices, smoothing, bypass, and feedback.
Version and sources
Checked against Bitwig Studio 6.0.6. This page combines Bitwig's module metadata, the existing Grid course and guides, and Nitro analysis where the mapping is strong enough to support a technical statement.
