CV Pitch Out

CV Pitch Out module panel in Bitwig Grid
CV Pitch Out in Bitwig Grid 6.0.6.

A pitch-aware control-voltage output scaled by a selected octave range and zero-value Root note.

What it does

CV Pitch Out converts Bitwig pitch signals into calibrated external pitch CV. Range determines the octave span represented by the signal, Root defines the note produced by a zero input, and Path chooses the DC-coupled hardware output.

Controls and ports

Control Label Official description
in In Signals sent to a selected external CV output pitch buss
path Control Voltage Pitch Path Outgoing CV pitch path to use
range Range Octave range for scaling the incoming signal
root Root Note that is triggered with a zero value

Practical uses

  • Sequence an external Eurorack oscillator from a Grid pitch engine.
  • Set Root and Range to match an external synth's tuning convention, then calibrate against known notes.

Things to know

  • Pitch CV normally requires a stable DC-coupled output and hardware calibration.
  • Root changes the voltage offset at raw pitch zero; Range changes the pitch-to-voltage slope.
  • Gate must be routed separately with another CV or hardware output when the external voice needs articulation.

Technical details

No Nitro implementation has been confirmed for this visible module. The behavior is described conservatively from module metadata and editorial research.

The functional mapping is affine: voltage = offset(root, path) + slope(range, path)*pitch, where raw Grid pitch advances by 0.1 per octave. Exact volts-per-octave choices, calibration, and clamps are host behavior. The automatic Hard Kick candidate is unrelated.

Open questions

  • Measure every Range, Root reference, volts-per-octave accuracy, tuning drift, latency, clipping, stop behavior, and required gate alignment.

Version and sources

Checked against Bitwig Studio 6.0.6. This page combines Bitwig's module metadata, the existing Grid course and guides, and Nitro analysis where the mapping is strong enough to support a technical statement.
